Automating Industrial Training Development Using Text to Speech

Abstract

AbstractDeveloping industrial training material for an oil and gas company is challenging, as many of the specialized skills will be confidential and training needs to be tailored based on the characteristics of the operations. So, oil and gas companies spend huge amounts on developing customized training materials. During the training development, recording training material is one of the most challenging tasks. This solution will provide a platform, which will automate the conversion of texts to audio and integrate with industrial online courses to generate natural soundtracks utilizing artificial intelligence and machine learning technology, especially with the advancement of Natural Language Processing (NLP). The automated mechanism of speech synthesis helped the training developers to speed up preparing training materials, reduce the human mistakes, and standardize the training modules. Results showed no major differences in learning outcomes and naturality between the actual recording and machine recordings – allowing automation and simulating a realistic user experience.
