Abstract
Due to the increasing grid-connected renewable energy generation, the operating conditions of power systems are more changeable, which puts forward higher requirements for power system stability. Efficient transient stability simulation and accurate assessment become essential. To this end, an automatic transient stability simulation and assessment (AUTO-TSS&A) scheme is proposed based on the real-time digital simulation system (RTDS). The scheme is composed of two parts, namely the automatic generation of fault scenarios and the automatic assessment of transient stability. The former part automatically switches different fault scenarios based on the script function of RTDS. The latter part accurately evaluates the transient stability using the instability criterion of phase trajectory’s concave-convexity. Through the RTDS simulation of an actual 1000kV grid simplified model, the proposed scheme is proved to be effective, accurate, and efficient in transient stability simulation and assessment of large-scale power grid.
