Abstract

In this paper, a novel automatic satellite acquisition strategy is studied to guarantee that a communication satellite can be pointed by the SOTM(Satcom On The Move) in dynamic environment. Aiming at the marine SOTM system, the strategy of automatic satellite acquisition considers the following specification, such as, acquisition time, accuracy and recaptured time after shaded. In the strategy, some adjustable key technical parameters are proposed, and the judgment rules for effectiveness of satellite acquisition, lost, and scan are also designed in details. The proposed strategy is applied in an actual application system, and has been tested by many times. The results indicate: 1) the strategy can reduce the acquisition time to 1.5 minute and improve the accuracy to 98%; 2) the tracking performance is improved, and the communication function can be quickly recovered after shaded. In a word, the verification result shows that the proposed strategy is feasible, fast, and reliable.
