Abstract

This paper proposes a new method to automatically recognize range profiles (RPs) and inverse synthetic radar (ISAR) images of targets flying in formation, despite overlapping of the RPs and ISARs in a single radar beam. On contrary to the existing methods to recognize by separating each target, the proposed method utilizes the combined RP and the combined ISAR image obtained by fusing the RPs and the ISAR images in a training database based on the flight direction of the targets. Experimental results using the measured data of five scale models prove the validity of the proposed method.
