Abstract
On the implementation and verification of communication protocols in the computer networks, it is required to describe protocols formally and establish the automatic implementation method of protocols. In this paper, we describe the formal description of protocols, which is based on a finite state machine with six inputs and six outputs, and the Protocol Compiler for Network architecture (PC/N) system which automatically generates communication programs from informations of the formal description of protocols and formats. We also show applications of the PC/N system. As a result, it is shown that about 38% of a communication program is automatically generated by the PC/N system and it is executable.
