Abstract

Automatic image-analysis systems have traditionally performed image processing using either special-purpose hardwired logic or minicomputer software. It is now possible to design a real-time image analyser based on a microcomputer and such a system is described briefly. The analyser performs advanced image processing and yet is portable and inexpensive. The enormous potential of microcomputers is illustrated by an application such as this.
