Abstract

Abstract : The Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) designed the Automatic Identification System (AIS) Collection and Reach-back System (ACRBS) to address a critical shortfall in the ability of the Military Sealift Command (MSC) to securely obtain and share its MSC ship position data along with the AIS data from all other surface contacts within AIS range (VHF) of the MSC ship. This document describes the NRL's design, assembly, and configuration of the ACRBS for the MSC. This document also provides technical information that is necessary to install ACRBS on a MSC host vessel.
