Abstract
The author describes an automatic record linking program developed by Englands Cambridge Group for the History of Population and Social Structure. The purpose of the program is to facilitate family reconstitution functions using data from historical parish registers. In the program all the decisions including the difficult cases were to be made by the computer in accordance with a set of basic principles. (EXCERPT)
