Abstract

Automatic contingency selection plays an important role in the security and stability of power system operation and control. This paper proposed a new algorithm of automatic contingency selection based on aggregation method. Given the influence of the network topology and flow distribution, this method used breaking betweenness indicators to identify the key transmission lines which took effect in contingency analysis. And it also combined with community structure partitioning algorithm in complex network theory to construct aggregated grids including nodes and transmission lines in the network. At last, contingency set was obtained according to the linking-up roads among aggregated grids. This method avoids load flow calculation and overcomes the contradiction between accuracy and rapidity of traditional selection methods. The analysis results of IEEE 30-bus system verify the validity and rapidity of the proposed algorithm.
