Abstract

The article presents the particularities of cutting force and thrust force calculations in the machine tool actuators for turning carbon, structural alloy steels and steels belonging to the hard-processing (corrosion resistant) group in the automated machine tool production. The article analyzes the causes of large errors relating to the cutting force component calculation in the design of turning structural steel technological process. A thermoEMF signal of the natural “thermocouple" cutter-workpiece is used as a diagnostic parameter to determine the combination of the “cutter-workpiece” physical and mechanical properties and the calculation of the cutting force components. The method provides that the calculation of the cutting force component at any stage of the turning operation is preceded by a cut trial, i.e., pre-treated metal (steel billet) and thermoelectric power measurement in a pair of the cutter-workpiece. The adjusted mathematical models of calculation designed for calculation automated methods which provide the calculation error of not more than 12-15 % are given in the article. Special software has been developed to provide automated calculation for the thrust force of actuators.
