Abstract

An ion-exchange column chromatographic procedure for the rapid separation and quantitation of micromole quantities of neutral mono- and oligosaccharides is described. This chromatographic system employs elution with boric acid/2,3-butanediol buffers at neutral pH at a flow rate of 160 ml/cm 2/hr. Automation of the procedure was achieved by continuous-stream analysis, employing the Hitachi Perkin-Elmer model 034-04 liquid chromatograph. The precision of the analysis was approximately ±5%.
