Abstract

The paper presents a smart approach for detection and sorting of objects in a continuous flow. Secern refers to discriminate or to distinguish. So, the robot which helps in detecting and discriminating different colors is the Secern robot. Image processing in these days has a high importance as it has broad applications in many fields of high technology. The challenge is how to improve existing sorting system. The existing systems have generally four steps of process: identification, processing, selection and sorting. To differentiate object colour, these systems use optical sensors. This paper presents a colour sorting solution with the application of image processing. Image processing detects the objects that are captured in the image by a webcam and then identifies the colour out of it. This information is processed by image processing and the control is given to the pick and place mechanism. This is an automated object handling system. It classifies different objects based on colour, which are placed in front of the robot. This system eliminates the work that is to be done by human, providing accuracy and speed in the work. The project involves image processing, which senses the object's colour and sends the signal to the microcontroller. The microcontroller sends signal to the circuit which drives the robotic arm. Based on the detection of the colour, the robotic arm moves to the specified location, releases the object and comes back to the original position.
