Abstract

Development of a sensitive microsystem for rapid detection of foodborne pathogens in a food sample is reported. We will present the design and operation principles, fabrication details, and a complete set of experimental results for the first time in this paper. The proposed microsystem brings down the analysis time from 24 to 72 hours to less than 6 hours compared to the current standard laboratory procedures. This reported microsystem enables inexpensive, automated testing of pathogens in food or water samples.
