Abstract

This paper presents a design method for discrete event systems. The design method uses an arithmetic representation of Boolean functions (Franke 1994) to control the discrete event system. A closed loop control is achieved by predicting and evaluating future states of the system with respect to a desired performance index for the system to be controlled. This is done automaticall y and the method is therefore an attempt to ease the design of control systems for discrete event systems.
