Abstract
An automated measuring system for monitoring the concentrations of phosphate, nitrate and ammonia in a biological wastewater treatment plant of the activated sludge type with biological removal of phosphorous, nitrate and organic matter is described. The sampling method is based on dialysis, and the analyzer consists of a triple flow injection system. Pumps, valves and analyzer are controlled by a microcomputer, which also handles and stores the data from the analyzer. The dialysis-unit has been tested at a sewage water plant for a period of two weeks without loss of performance. The dialysate has been analysed with the phosphate analyzer and 0.4 mg-P/1 was found.
