Abstract

An automated Edge Gradient Analysis (EGA) has been developed and tested for entire photogrammetric systems: it operates over the 0 to 50 c/mm frequency range. The investigations have demonstrated that the inherent accuracy of the complex system may be characterized with 2% standard deviation of the MTF in the case of ten repeated recordings on the same section of the edge. But the statistical delimitation of the edge function may cause errors which indirectly affect the effectiveness of the smoothing operations so that we are unable to achieve this accuracy in practice. Although a sophisticated method was developed for the delimitation, this first step seemed to be the most critical point of EGA from the point of view of repeatability. Some test results are shown and interpreted.
