Abstract
Registration of C-wave data with its corresponding P-wave data is a critical step in multicomponent data processing and interpretation. In order overcome the nonlinear nature of the problem, we use constrained simulated annealing as a global search engine, to register C-wave data into P-P time. The objective function is to maximize the similarity to compensate for the reflectivity difference between the Pand C-wave data. The frequency difference is addressed by time-varying spectral whitening. We also correct the phase difference between Pand C-wave data. Synthetic and field data examples show that the method is efficient and robust for the estimation of the vertical velocity ratio by event registration.
