Abstract

Steam generator (SG) tubes in nuclear power plants are exposed to harsh environmental conditions that result in various types of degradation, thereby necessitating periodic inspection. In- service inspection of SG tubes is widely done using eddy current methods. Limitations of conventional eddy current methods employing multi frequency bobbin and mechanically rotating probes for tube inspection have given rise to the relatively new eddy current array sensor. The large volume of data generated by array probes requires development of data analysis tools that exploit their capabilities. This paper presents automated signal analysis of the multi dimensional eddy current array probe data for consistent, accurate and high speed interpretation.
