Abstract
The German automotive industry is facing serious problems: After a long period of growth in production and exports, it threatens to lose its dominant position as a result of international trade disputes. But the requirements of the European climate protection targets also call for far-reaching change. However, this change does not only apply to the production of cars but also to the increasing demand for mobility services. Car-Sharing and better links between public and private transport will make it easier to achieve these goals. This is probably not possible simply by using new energy and propulsion options. Nevertheless, these drastic changes also mean drastic changes in the production and distribution system.
