Abstract

Antibodies to thyroid, gastric parietal cells, rabbit ovarian cytoplasm, or antinuclear factor were detected in 31 out of 45 patients with gonadal dysgenesis, in 16 out of 23 of their mothers, and in 9 out of 20 of their fathers. Each parent had a positive test for one or other antibody in 9 of the 17 instances in which both parents were tested. The incidence of antibodies was significantly higher in patients than in their controls (9/45); in patients' mothers than in their controls (8/23); and in patients' fathers than in their controls (0/20). The incidence of antibodies in patients with Klinefelter's syndrome and in eunuchoid males was not higher than in their male controls.
