Abstract

Autoimmune disorders are those in which the host's natural defense mechanism turns against the person causing dysfunction of either a single organ or multiple organ systems. Several pediatric movement disorders, including Sydenham's chorea (SC) and pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorder associated with streptococcal infection (acronym PANDAS) have been hypothesized to fit in this category.
