Abstract

Specific features of the autodyne response in oscillators in the presence of simultaneous intrinsic reflected radiation and external locking are studied. Main expressions for analysis of the autodyne response under conditions for quasi-static slow and fast motion of a radar object are obtained for the scenario in which the signal period is comparable with the time constant of the autodyne response. Parameters and characteristics of the locked autodyne are calculated. Advantages of such autodynes in comparison with conventional (unlocked) autodynes are demonstrated. The theoretical results are proven by experimental data obtained for an oscillator based on the 8-mm-wavelength Gunn diode.
