Abstract

The crime of auto burglary is both common and costly. The present study examines this crime within the confines of an entertainment district ‘hotspot’ known as Ybor City, which is located in a large metropolitan area on the west coast of Florida. Official crime information was collected and analyzed within the context of the ‘SARA’ model of problem-solving. Location, temporal, victim and offender variables were considered. Security-related situational crime prevention suggestions are made based upon our findings.
