Abstract

ABSTRACT This study analyzes the authorship characteristics of carbon footprint research published from 1992 to 2022. A total number of 13,004 papers indexed in Web of Science were examined by using bibliometric data collection techniques. Our sample presents a very collaborative pattern with most of the papers written by two or more authors (92.42%). The mean number of authorships per paper in this dataset was 4.16. The maximum number of authors for a single paper was 69 in the year 2019. However, the frequency distribution of scientific productivity in the field of carbon footprint research does not comply with Lotka’s law, with fewer authors writing more than one research article than expected.
