We thank Drs. Grzybowski and Kanclerz for their interest in our review article. Although the study performed by Fukuo and coworkers showed that the hand-held full-field flicker electroretinography device (RetEVAL, LKC Technologies Inc., Gaithersburg, MD; Welch Allyn, Inc., Skaneateles Falls, NY) was more convenient than conventional electroretinography for screening and grading of diabetic retinopathy (DR), the differences in the implicit times and amplitudes between normal subjects and patients without retinopathy were not significant. This could limit its usefulness at the preclinical stage of DR. 3 Fukuo M. Kondo M. Hirose A. et al.
