Abstract
WITH REGARD TO THE COMMENTS ON OUR PAPER BY DR. Arjamaa explaining the meaning of the word chelation, EDTA chelation has been for many years the standard treatment of calcific band keratopathy. It is our impression that the calcium deposits are dissolved in the process over a period of time and not just mechanically removed from the cornea. Our purpose in this study was to evaluate retrospectively the result of this standard treatment not to study the mechanism of action of EDTA or other possible treatments.
