Abstract

We thank Chris Moore, MD, and colleagues, for their comments. Our survey was performed to demonstrate the frequency with which point-of-care ultrasound is practiced by emergency physicians and to determine whether the type of ultrasound examinations performed are influenced by the level of ER coverage provided by diagnostic radiology. We found that ER physician-performed ultrasound is widespread among academic hospitals, and a 24/7 diagnostic radiology in-house attending service does not correspond to a reduction in ER ultrasound activity.
