Abstract
We agree with Carano and Testa's criticism that the present study (“Posttreatment evaluation of the distal jet appliance” [Am J Orthod Dentofacial Orthop 2001;120:178-85]) reports the effects of the distal jet distalizer combined with full fixed appliances. When this research was conducted, the only significant sample for examination included distal jet patients who were treated simultaneously with preadjusted brackets. Subsequent, but unpublished, investigations have compared the effects of the distal jet, both with and without braces.
