Abstract

I appreciate the comments of Gazulla et al. regarding my focused review on the mechanisms of action and side effects of gabapentinoids.1 I cited the article by Yu et al.2 because they found that gabapentin increases expression of delta subunit-containing GABAA receptors. I am also aware of the placebo-controlled pilot study of Gazulla and Benavente3 regarding the potential benefit of pregabalin for ataxia in cortical cerebellar atrophy. I did not cite this study because I focused on the mechanisms of action and potential side effects of gabapentinoids as currently used in clinical practice.
