Abstract

We thank the reviewer for their comments and agree that focusing on recruitment of women and underrepresented minorities as speakers will bring diversity of opinion to the podium which will greatly enrich the AUA meeting. The responsibility of having diversity of the podium cannot fall on women and minorities alone, it needs to come from a top down approach. Recently, the NIH director Francis Collins declared that he would no longer participate in all male panels or “manels.” He felt this declaration was necessary despite the fact that the NIH has had a longstanding policy focused on the inclusion of women on panels.
