Abstract
We thank the editorial staff for their insightful comments and agree with their assessment. Our study aimed to raise awareness about health literacy disparities that exist amongst urology patients – as increasing awareness is the first step toward implementing change. Providers often underestimate a patient's health literacy which can greatly impact preoperative counseling, education, and surgical outcomes.1 While health literacy has been studied amongst urologic oncology patients, there are limited to no data available regarding the effects of health literacy on surgical outcomes following reconstructive and prosthetic surgery.
