Abstract

As Editor-in-Chief, International Surgery, I dedicate this editorial letter to knowing the values expected by readers of manuscripts published in International Surgery. Many analogies exist in this reference. A ship on an ocean, even though experiencing smooth sailing, needs to periodically check, via various navigational aids, the current position of the ship and determine if any course changes are needed. It is akin to knowing what you do not know, obtaining updated information, then making periodic changes as appropriate and necessary to arrive at the planned destination, the goal.International Surgery, the official journal of the International College of Surgeons, has been published since 1938 and continues to be published. International Surgery is published only electronically and only on an open access basis. We are committed to timely peer reviews and prompt publishing of peer reviewed approved manuscripts. Given 82 years of publishing experience and a rapidly changing scientific and medical publishing industry, periodic surveys are needed to make certain that International Surgery continues to provide authors of manuscripts and readers of approved manuscripts what authors and readers need and want. In different words, feedback is needed to keep International Surgery publishing on course. We need to know what you, the readers and authors, think. We ask for your feedback. Your responses will allow us to consider, and, if possible, to make adjustments in our overall publishing process. Our goal is to serve you in the very best manner possible, as you are very important to us. Your feedback will enable International Surgery to continue to have an ever larger role in communicating to the world the immense need for scientific medical information.Sincerely,Christopher ChenEditor-in-ChiefInternational Surgery
