Abstract

A review of Chloe Hooper's non-fiction novel 'The Tall Man' Death and Life on Palm Island' is presented. The book recounts the death in custody of Cameron Doomadgee on Queensland's Palm Island in 2004. The novel suggests the possibility for a space of Australian postcoloniality. In addition, it is an original work of critical legal geography that analyses the tensions between Australia's north and south and outlines the laws and state policies that create racial conflict.
