Abstract

The cover image shows the forest fire monitoring result produced by the adaptive threshold for active fire identification on the basis of the GF-4 PMI image of Australia, which was obtained on January 11,2020,with a spatial resolution of 400 m.The GF-4 satellite is the first geosynchronous orbit optics remote sensing satellite with a high spatial resolution in China. It has four observation working modes, including general, stare, regional and mobile patrol. This satellite is equipped with a panchromatic/multispectral camera(PMS)with a resolution of 50m and swath of over 500 km,and medium wave infrared ray(IRS)with a resolution of 400m and swath of over 400 km.It can provide high-efficiency and-resolution observation images throughout China and surrounding countries and has provided new technical methods for disaster risk warning and forecasting, forest and grassland fire monitoring, seismic structure information extracting, and meteorological monitoring in China and neighboring regions.
