Abstract
During the last years, physical-mathematical models concerning continuous cooling and isothermal phase transformations valid for wide range of steels have been attained. However, the modelling of continuous heating transformations has not undergone the same development than in cooling. This investigation concerns with the study and modelisation of continuous heating phase transformations to study the process which is generally referred to as austenitisation of the steel. Therefore, our main aim is to describe those processes which control the non-isothermal formation of austenite in steels with initial microstructures of ferrite and/or pearlite.
