Abstract
This chapter investigates Aristotle's natural philosophy dealing with the emotions. The natural-philosophical statements in the text report to the way of expression of the human in emotional behavior can be mainly grouped in two thematic points of view: 1) comparison of the emotional behavior of humans and animals, 2) exploration of differences and peculiarities in emotional behavior between individuals and groups. This chapter discusses how the authors define and assess similarities and differences in the emotional behavior of humans and animals philosophically. Passio, passio animce, and affectus in the philosophical text products are the central concepts which form the emotions. The chapter explains the basic common emotional behavior and specific human emotions. It also examines varying levels of human and animal common emotions. Gender and age related differences in expression of emotional behavior are also discussed.
