Abstract

• Electropolymerization of Auramine O monomer was achieved. • Exhibits good sensitivity, selectivity and excellent response for individual and simultaneous electroanalysis of CA and HY. • Low detection limit for CA and HY was achieved. • Satisfactory recovery for CA and HY was found. A facile method for the electrochemical analysis of dihydroxybenzene isomers like catechol (CA) and hydroquinone (HY) at poly (Auramine O) modified glassy carbon electrode (poly-AO-MGCE) was examined by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetric (DPV) technique. The constructed electrode depicts low detection limits for CA (0.98 µM) and HY (1.2 µM) with superior current responses due to the inherent catalytic properties of its modifiers. The specific parameters including pH, with speed rate, and concentration variation were carried by electrochemically at designed electrode. The poly-AO-MGCE reveals surface-controlled process and implies high electrocatalytic response for the simultaneous exploring of CA and HY. The proposed electrode expressed superior selectivity and sensitivity. The recovery of CA and HY was achieved in simple method using tap water.
