Abstract

The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and neuroscience, along with the Internet of Things and extended reality will provide hotel employees and services with augmented capabilities. The term augmented hotelier stems from theoretical concepts such as transhumanism and technological singularity. Transhumanism is a theoretical movement that refers to the evolution of human beings as a result of their integration with technology. As a consequence of this integration, both their physical and intellectual conditions are augmented. The concept of technological singularity refers to the evolution of AI to a degree in which it is capable of self-creating and self-developing its own intelligence, thereby being able to dominate diverse social and economic dynamics. AI or neurotechnology evolutions recognize scenarios in which hotels and their employees might develop augmented capabilities that completely change the traditional management and business models. This supports smart tourism and smart hospitality, where integrated systems optimize the tourism and hospitality industry
