Abstract

The Auger electron and secondary electron emission from a (2 × 1)-Si(001) surface induced by surface-channeled 75 and 150 keV protons have been studied. The measured yield profiles have very different shapes. They are explained by calculated flux density distributions of the channeled protons taking into acount the different impact parameter dependence of Auger and secondary electron production.
