Abstract

Background: Squamous Cell Carcinomas (SCC’s) and Basal Cell Carcinomas (BCC’s) are routinely removed on the Oral and Maxillofacial department. To ensure a favourable outcome the correct pre-operative diagnosis and complete excision of the cancer is critical. This departmental audit determined the accuracy of pre-operative diagnosis and whether surgical management is meeting the set standard of 97% complete excision. The quality of pathological reports was also reviewed.
