Abstract

Background: Breast conserving surgery (BCS) for women with breast cancer has as main disadvantage the risk of positive resection margins that lead to re-excision. A retrospective study reported a reoperation rate of 20% after BCS among women in England. We aim to compare the re-excision rate after BCS for women with breast cancer at Noble’s hospital with this standard of 20%. Additionally we aim to identify factors leading to increased likelihood of re-excision.
