Abstract
Our everyday lives are crammed with consumer electronics (CE) systems, ranging from smartphones, smart devices, set-top boxes, video consoles, and tablets to washing machines and kitchen appliances. A CE device is heavily reliant on audio and video technologies for its successful smart functioning. With the evolution of these sophisticated devices and technologies, data (such as images, sensitive information, and so forth) security has become a major concern that requires immediate attention. Another facet of these technologies that needs attention is optimization of data redundancy, coverage area, and energy expenditure of CE systems, such as video devices. This special section aims to publish novel solutions with respect to these aspects of audio and video technologies for CE applications.
