Abstract
Within the Omolon cratonic terrane the preaccre tionary Kedon volcanicplutonic belt (KVB) is located, which was formed in the middle Paleozoic (D2-3) on the continental crust. The KVB has attracted particular attention due to the discovery of the Kubaka gold deposit, one of the richest in the world, within this belt. In the period 1998-2007, gold mining at this deposit reached 12-15 tons per year. However, by 2008, the gold reserves had been depleted; in total only 102 tons of gold and the same amount of silver were mined. We suggest that the ques tions raised in this work on the metallogeny within the KVP are highly relevant for the prediction of new Kubakatype deposits.
