Abstract

Benign epithelial inclusions present in sentinel lymph nodes present a diagnostic challenge, particularly at frozen section, and can be mistaken for metastatic malignancy. Heterotopic breast tissue present in axillary lymph nodes is well documented,1 as well as its potential for proliferative changes including papillomas.2 Also described is the concept of iatrogenic cell displacement as a complication of needle procedures contributing to epithelial lesions within axillary lymph nodes.3 We describe a case report of an atypical papilloma arising within a benign epithelial inclusion in an axillary sentinel lymph node.
