Abstract
SINCE the description of the syndrome of adrenal cortical insufficiency by Addison in 1855, a review of the literature reveals only 16 accepted cases in which this syndrome appeared in combination with diabetes mellitus. Nearly seventy-five years elapsed after Addison's paper before a case showing this combination was reported by Unverricht1 in 1926. It has since been recognized that these cases fall into three distinct groups, depending on the time of development of one disease in relation to the other. Thus, there are 4 cases in which, as nearly as could be determined, the two diseases developed simultaneously, 3 cases . . .
