Abstract
Contextualization : The new mental health care model considers the drug user as a biopsychosocial being and prioritizes their reinsertion in society. In this way, the Psychosocial Care Centers for Alcohol and Drug Users (CAPS AD) offer therapeutic treatment for people with mental disorders due to psychoactive substances, using workshops and group activities as part of treatment. Description of the experience : The activities were developed by academics and Nutrition professionals who were part of the Education Program for Work in Health (PET-Health/GraduaSUS), who contributed to the production of educational activities in conjunction with the CAPS AD team. First of all, the activities were planned according to the demand for special dates related to the health calendar, cultural festivities or service needs, developing, therefore, a calendar with the activities scheduled to be carried out, in order to promote health education and healthy eating. Using illustrativeposters, the dates and actions weredisclosed in CAPS AD for the knowledge of service’susers. One of the main activities carried out at the unit was the cultivation ofvegetable garden,which took place in an integrated way with the other activities to promote healthy eating. The Culinary Workshops approached various topics related tohealth, regionality, culture, and promotion of healthy eating and complemented theother planned activities. The activities had great adhesion and participation of users. Final considerations : The Food and Nutrition Educationactivities developedby theNutrition team at CAPS AD were particularly important for the promotion of healthyeating among the service’s users, contributing to the therapeutic treatment. Therefore, the insertion of nutritionist in these places becomesrelevant,promotinghealthy lifestyle habits and actively participating in the therapeutic project of drug users.
