Abstract

The article deals with the composite toponyms of the Central black earth region, which include an attribute component. It is proved that the toponymic nomination, which reflects the cognitive experience of a person, is based on two main types of relations: a sign-a carrier of a sign and a sign-an object of a sign. In the toponymic unit with the reference word Dubrava, the cognitive “isolation” of certain qualities or characteristics of the Dubrava topolexeme is established.
