Abstract
In this study, we observe the effects of CEO’s age and entrepreneurial orientation (defined with the sub-dimensions entrepreneurial behavior and attitude toward risk) on job pursuit intentions of prospective applicants. Drawing on signaling theory and implicit leadership theory, we assume that CEO age and entrepreneurial orientation unfold a significant effect on job pursuit intentions. Moreover, we propose that the effect of CEO´s age is contingent on entrepreneurial behavior and attitude toward risk of the company. To test our hypotheses, we conducted a conjoint experiment, obtaining 1,848 decisions nested within 77 individuals. Our results reveal significant main effects of CEOs age and entrepreneurial orientation on job pursuit intentions, while interactions remain non-significant.
