Abstract

An extended version of the Skyrme model lagrangian is considered, through inclusion of the symmetric fourth-order term plus a sixth-order term. We show that the Δ-polarization mechanism is able, with this lagrangian, to yield attraction in the central isoscalar nucleon-nucleon (NN) potential, over a range of parameters compatible with ππ scattering data. Also the other components of the NN interaction are consistent with the one-boson-exchange phenomenology.
