Abstract
Octatrienes, 1, 3, 5- and 2, 4, 6-octatrienes (sarohornene) in the matured female receptacles, were first identified as attractants of male-gamete of a dioecious brown marine alga, Sargassum horneri by comparison of mass and UV spectra, and GLC retention times with those of synthetic specimens.
